Ibarra Bucio suffered a hemorrhage and collapsed when he was detained at the Adelanto Detention Center. The following day on Feb 8., Castro received a call from the ICE officials saying he had a "passing out episode". She was in disbelief when she saw her husband connected to machines and his left foot handcuffed onto the bed. Two officials also guarded his hospital room.

ICE signed the release papers two weeks after being in the state of coma.  Castro says, "I think it might be because at that point they saw that the likelihood of him surviving wasn't high at all." His family decided to end his life support and died the following day on March 21st.

The family is desperate for answers. They want to know exactly what happened the day of the collapse at the detention center. Also, they demand to know if he received proper medical attention. His sister Lucian Ibarra said her brother was is good health conditions before entering the detention center.

Ibarra Bustillo leaves behind his two month old son who was born five days before he died. Castro is sadden her son won’t meet his father and says,“My son will never be able to experience the love and happiness my husband brought to my life as I know he would have brought to his.”
